The Roobiny Rural Placement Bursary

This Bursary was established in January 2016 as a tribute to honour the memory of late Dr Roobiny (Biny) Sivananthan who graduated from аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø in Veterinary Science in 2011. Since graduation, Roobiny Sivananthan dedicated her Veterinary Service to the North West Region of Queensland, both in Mount Isa and in the regional rural communities of, Boulia, Mornington Island, Doomadgee, Karumba and Normanton.

The aim of this bursary is to provide two аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø final year veterinary science students with financial assistance to undertake clinical and/or elective placements in rural communities as part of their practical training rotations within the Bachelor of Veterinary Science program. It is anticipated that selected students will gain experience and confidence in working in areas such as extensive livestock management, rural communities, indigenous veterinary services and wildlife sanctuaries. This bursary is subject to the provisions of аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø’s Coursework Scholarships, Bursaries and Grants Policy.
